Great Websites for Kids January 30, 2008

The Association for Library Service to Children reviewed over 400 websites and selected 35 to add to its list of Great websites for Kids  (www.ala.org/greatsites  The sites are put through a “rigorous evaluation” before added to the list. I’m glad to see that I’ve used nearly 80% of the websites for instructional purposes. :)

I’ve used Readergirlz to read about books but have never direct ly used it with students. :)

We’d love to hear about a direct impact with a group of students! See if this month’s book pick + new issue strikes inspiration for a book group and/or poetry slam . . . and keep us posted!

I’m a cartoonist. I do a syndicated comic strip appearing in over 400 newspapers titled “Slylock Fox and Comics for Kids”. Not long ago I created a blog to display art from young readers. Under each drawing I post encouraging comments. The response from kids, parents and teachers has been terrific. The blog is http://www.kidcartoonists.com. I hope you will take a look and pass it along to your readers.

    Best regards,
    Bob Weber Jr.
