I chuckled upon seeing that Diahann Carroll is the closing session speaker at the ALA Anaheim conference. My first job was as an usher at Drury Lane Theatre in Evergreen Park, Illinois. One of my duties included taking the stars from their dressing room to the waiting area. Diahann Carroll was the least friendly but I guess she’s now qualified to give the closing address since she wrote The Legs Are the Last to Go: Aging, Acting, Marrying, Mothering, and Other Things I Learned Along the Way.
