We Couldn’t Say it Better Ourselves!

"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page." - Augustine

Some people love to travel. Some do not. Donna and John are among the first group and both have a fair amount of nomadic tendencies. John spent time teaching in Korea and Donna taught in the Alaskan Bush. Now our annual road trip helps fill the need to explore new places. It is often difficult to explain why travel is so ingrained in each of us and we find others are often better at putting our thoughts into words. These quotes capture our thoughts more eloquently than we are able to.

“A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.” – Lao Tzu

“He who does not travel does not know the value of men.” – Moorish proverb

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.” – Martin  Buber

“I travel not to go anywhere, but to go.  I travel for travel’s sake.  The great affair is to move.”  – Robert Louis Stevenson

“You lose sight of things…and when you travel, everything balances out.” – Daranna Gidel

“Embrace the detours.” – Kevin Charbonneau

“I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.” – Douglas Adams
