Every Road Trip Needs a Theme Song

Every year John chooses the perfect road trip theme song. Donna anxiously awaits pulling out of the driveway and hearing the song for the first time.  She always brainstorms possible songs that John may pick, but she has never been successful.  The  song is played each morning as we pull out of the hotel parking lot and as we enter each new state. Yes, we do look for the dotted line on our GPS indicating we are approaching a new state and eagerly put the CD in the player waiting until that magic moment when we cross the state line. If you are looking for the perfect road trip song, here are some that we have used:

2007 – “Get Out the Map” by the Indigo Girls

2008 – “Better Get to Livin’ ” by Dolly Parton

2009 – “What a Day” by Greg Laswell

2010 – “Steal Your Rock and Roll” from the musical Memphis

2011 – “The Edge of Glory” by Lady GaGa

2012 – “Seize the Day” from Newsies
